Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What requirements are there for getting a free Steam game key?

A: The only specifics needed to claim your key are a) a valid, public Steam account that you use and b) a valid Discord account. Once you log in to both, you'll be able to answer a few questions. That's it!

Q: Can I pick the game that I'll be getting?

A: Not currently, no - we're planning to give away interesting, underdiscussed games at random. And so your key will be randomly selected from the five titles in the giveaway. Call it a lucky dip!

Q: When do I get my Steam key reward, dammit?

A: We're not giving out our keys in real-time, because we're nervous about bots claiming them all. When we've checked your entry and confirmed you are a real person, we'll email you the key. (Generally within 24/48 hours of you filling out the form.) Ping us if you haven't heard after that.

Q: What are you doing with the info I give you?

A: We're interested in why people buy Steam games! So we'll take your answers, look at the games you play on Steam every now and again (via your public player data), and anonymously aggregate across thousands of players. Then we'll work out things like - do Civ players pay more attention to 'traditional' game reviews than players of R.E.P.O.? (Fun, right? We will put some of the results in our free newsletter.)

Q: Are you leaking all my personal Steam keys and Discord chats?

A: Of course not! Using the Steam login just gets us basic public info on your Steam account name. And similarly for Discord - we can just see anything on your public profile. (We just chose to require these two logins because that should cut down on key resellers who might otherwise automate filling out the form.)
